1 Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use Bay Keeper (the "Service" or "Application") and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

We use Your Personal Data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2 App Context

App context. Bay Keeper is a mobile application for documenting and protecting lakes, rivers, bays, and other water bodies — including a keeper diary, observations, and related progression — primarily on Your Device. Where We rely on third-party SDKs (for example attribution analytics or push delivery), they process data as described below and under their own policies.

3 Interpretation and Definitions

Capitalized terms used in this Policy have the meanings set out here. The same definitions apply whether the term appears in singular or plural.

Company ("We", "Us" or "Our") refers to Bay Keeper.

Country refers to: United Kingdom.

Device means any device that can access the Service (for example a smartphone or tablet).

Personal Data (or "Personal Information") means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.

Service Provider means third parties that process data on Our behalf to facilitate the Service, analytics, attribution, notifications, or related technical functions.

Usage Data means data collected automatically when You use the Service (for example diagnostics, session length, or technical identifiers).

You means the person using the Service, or the legal entity on whose behalf that person uses the Service, as applicable.

4 Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Personal Data. We may ask You to provide certain information that can be used to contact or identify You, for example if You email Us. This may include Your email address.

Local keeper data. Core app data (for example water bodies, journal entries, observations, badges, game scores, settings, backups, and similar keeper data) is stored on Your Device using standard mobile storage. We do not require an account to use the Application. Unless otherwise stated in this Policy, this local data is not transmitted to Our servers as part of normal use.

Location (optional): If You allow location access, the Application uses Your position only while in use to place water bodies on the map and attach coordinates to observations. Location data is saved on Your Device and is not uploaded to Our servers.

Camera & Photo Library (optional): If You choose to photograph a water body or add images to a journal entry, the Application requests camera or photo library access. Photos are captured or selected only when You initiate the action. We do not upload Your images to Our servers.

Usage Data. Usage Data is collected automatically when You use the Service. It may include, for example, Your Device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, diagnostic data, and timestamps or engagement signals related to the Application. When You use the Service on a mobile device, We may collect similar technical information automatically.

Product configuration. The Application may make limited network requests needed to operate the Service (for example to retrieve configuration). Such requests may include technical identifiers such as Your application bundle identifier together with identifiers associated with Our attribution and measurement partners, solely as needed for those technical purposes.

5 Analytics, Attribution and Messaging Partners

We use third-party providers to understand how the Application is discovered and used, to measure campaign effectiveness, to improve stability, and to deliver notifications. Depending on Your settings and applicable law, these partners may process identifiers associated with Your Device or install.

6 Use and Sharing of Your Information

We may use Personal Data to provide and maintain the Service, monitor usage, respond to Your requests, send service-related communications (including via push where You allow it), analyze and improve the Service, and support attribution and measurement as described above.

We may share information with Service Providers who process it on Our instructions and for the purposes described in this Policy, as well as where required by law, to protect rights and safety, or with Your consent where applicable.

You can stop much of the Application's on-device data collection by uninstalling the Application using Your device or store standard uninstall process. Some data may already have been processed by partners according to their policies and retention practices.

7 Retention, Transfer and Deletion

We retain Personal Data only as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and enforcement of agreements. Retention details for partner-processed data are governed in part by those partners' policies.

Your information may be processed in locations where We or Our partners operate, which may be outside Your jurisdiction. Where required by law, We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

You may contact Us to request access, correction, or deletion of Personal Data You have provided, subject to legal retention requirements.

8 Security and Legal Disclosure

No electronic transmission or storage is completely secure; We strive to use commercially reasonable safeguards for Your Personal Data.

We may disclose Personal Data if required by law or in good faith where disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process, protect Our rights or safety, investigate fraud, or respond to lawful requests by public authorities.

9 Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 16. If You believe a child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us and We will take steps to remove it where appropriate.

10 Links to Other Websites

The Service or Our communications may contain links to third-party sites (for example partner privacy pages). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices. Please review their privacy policies.

11 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy in the Application or on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance unless applicable law requires additional steps.
